The Technics SP-10R is a reference-class direct drive turntable system engineered for ultimate precision, stability, and sonic performance. Designed as a modern evolution of legendary broadcast turntables, it combines cutting-edge motor technology with extreme mass and advanced noise suppression to deliver world-class analogue playback.

At its core is a double coil, twin-rotor coreless direct drive motor, evolved from designs first introduced in the Technics SL-1200G turntable. Featuring a 12-pole, 18-coil configuration with coils positioned on both sides, the motor delivers exceptional torque and stability, capable of driving the heavyweight platter with absolute precision. By offsetting the coils by 60 degrees, Technics reduces vibration and self-inductance, achieving ultra-stable rotation with wow and flutter as low as 0.015%.

The motor system is further refined with reinforced thrust bearings and a low centre of gravity design. Stainless steel weights integrated into the chassis improve rigidity and suppress unwanted vibrations, contributing to outstanding rotational accuracy and an exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratio.

A standout feature is the heavyweight three-layer platter, combining aluminium die-cast construction with a 10 mm brass layer and tungsten weights positioned around the outer edge. Weighing approximately 7.9 kg, it provides enormous inertial mass for ultra-smooth rotation, while a rear damping layer eliminates unwanted resonance.

To minimise electrical interference, the SP-10R uses a separate control unit. This isolates power supply and control circuitry from the main turntable, significantly reducing noise. The high-performance switching power supply incorporates a dedicated noise reduction circuit, ensuring clean, stable power delivery.

Precision control is taken further with the ability to adjust rotation speed down to two decimal places, with an OLED display providing accurate real-time feedback. This level of control allows both visual and audible confirmation of speed accuracy.

Designed with flexibility in mind, the SP-10R is fully compatible with SP-10MK2 and SP-10MK3 mounting systems, allowing integration into existing high-end setups.
