Technics SL-1000R Direct Drive Turntable System
The Technics SL-1000R is a flagship reference-class turntable system, engineered to deliver ultimate precision, stability, and sonic performance. Combining extreme mass, advanced motor technology, and meticulous craftsmanship, it represents the pinnacle of Technics analogue design.
At its core is a double coil, twin-rotor coreless direct drive motor, evolved from the design introduced in the Technics SL-1200G turntable. Featuring a 12-pole, 18-coil configuration, the motor delivers exceptional torque to drive the heavyweight platter while eliminating cogging. By offsetting coils by 60 degrees, vibration and self-inductance are reduced, achieving ultra-stable rotation with wow and flutter as low as 0.015%.
Motor vibration is further suppressed through reinforced thrust bearings, a rigid chassis, and a low centre of gravity design. Stainless steel weights positioned at the base enhance stability and minimise unwanted resonance, resulting in exceptional rotational precision and a very high signal-to-noise ratio.
The heavyweight three-layer platter combines aluminium die-cast, a 10 mm brass layer, and tungsten weights placed around the outer edge. With a total weight of approximately 7.9 kg, it provides enormous inertial mass and outstanding vibration damping, ensuring smooth and accurate playback.
A separate control unit isolates power and control circuitry from the main turntable, significantly reducing electrical noise. The high-performance switching power supply incorporates advanced noise reduction technology to deliver clean, stable voltage with minimal interference.
Precision control is enhanced with adjustable rotation speed down to two decimal places, displayed clearly on an OLED screen for accurate visual feedback.
The SL-1000R includes a high-sensitivity S-shaped tonearm constructed from lightweight magnesium. Featuring a high-precision gimbal bearing system and hand assembly by skilled craftsmen, it achieves exceptional tracking accuracy. OFC internal wiring preserves signal integrity for vivid, detailed sound reproduction.
The tonearm base is rigidly integrated with the turntable structure, maintaining consistent geometry and minimising the impact of vibration. Optional tonearm bases allow additional arms from SME or Ortofon to be mounted, supporting highly customised setups.
A gold-plated 5-pin DIN output ensures optimal signal transfer, while the high-rigidity multi-layer cabinet and silicon insulators provide exceptional vibration isolation and long-term stability.
