The Korf Audio TA-AF MkII tonearm represents the pinnacle of Korf’s engineering, designed and manufactured in Austria by Alexey Korf. This is a no-compromise tonearm, built to deliver reference-level performance through innovative design and advanced materials.
Every aspect of the TA-AF MkII has been carefully refined. At its core is a groundbreaking bearing system, using aerospace-grade zero stiction flexure bearings for the horizontal axis and full ceramic silicon nitride bearings for the vertical axis. This combination delivers exceptionally low starting torque, ultra-smooth movement, and near-silent operation, allowing cartridges to perform at their absolute best.
The tonearm comes complete with Korf’s one-piece ceramic headshell, widely regarded as one of the finest available. Extending the use of ceramics further, the TA-AF MkII features an alumina ceramic arm tube, offering exceptional strength and rigidity. At the same mass, it is almost twice as strong as steel, significantly stronger than aluminium or titanium alternatives, and highly resistant to unwanted resonance.
Precision-engineered brass components enhance structural integrity, while the internal wiring uses Cardas Clear Litz cables with lightweight copper shielding for optimal signal transmission and minimal interference.
Korf tonearms are developed from a clean-sheet approach, focusing on the key principles of analogue performance: quality of motion, rigidity, low energy storage, signal integrity, stability, and longevity. The result is a sound defined by outstanding clarity, holographic imaging, natural dynamics, accurate tonality, extended highs, and deep, controlled bass.
The MkII version introduces a range of important improvements. A stainless steel vertical column provides a more stable foundation, while a steel vertical shaft improves bass depth and definition. Internal refinements increase rigidity, and the overall design has been simplified for a cleaner, more premium aesthetic. A completely new azimuth adjustment mechanism allows for smoother and more precise setup. Structural set screws have been eliminated to improve integrity, leaving only the arm lift adjustment. The warranty has also been extended to three years.
Available in both 9-inch and 10-inch versions, the tonearm comes as standard with a JIS mounting collar, with an optional SME sliding base mechanism available for added flexibility and easier adjustment.
