The JICO SETO-HORI REMODEL is a highly specialised moving coil cartridge that builds on the success of the original SETO-HORI, first released in 2019 to global acclaim. This updated version refines the concept further by fully integrating the cartridge and headshell into a single, precision-engineered unit for maximum performance.

At the heart of the design is a unified headshell and cartridge body, machined from aluminium and copper alloy ingots. By aligning the centre of gravity directly along the tonearm’s centreline, the SETO-HORI REMODEL achieves exceptional tracking sensitivity and stability. The screw-free construction reduces unwanted resonance, allowing for cleaner, more accurate sound reproduction.

Inspired by technology used in NEUMANN cutting heads, the cartridge is designed to precisely control vibration and optimise magnetic field behaviour. This results in an extraordinary level of resolution, revealing fine detail and nuance from vinyl records.

A unique feature is the use of a ceramic “Setomono” enclosure, traditionally difficult to manufacture due to shrinkage during firing. Through skilled craftsmanship, JICO has successfully implemented this material to provide excellent insulation and protection for the cartridge’s delicate magnetic system.

The Micro Ridge diamond stylus offers a highly detailed contact profile with a lifespan over three times that of standard stylus designs. Paired with a boron cantilever, known for its rigidity and responsiveness, the cartridge delivers precise tracking and extended frequency response.

The integrated headshell is fully machined using a 5-axis process, ensuring consistent vibration characteristics. Its carefully balanced mass helps reduce vertical movement frequency, minimising stress on the stylus and improving playback stability.

An electromagnetic noise-absorbing layer is included to stabilise magnetic behaviour, while high-quality lead wiring from Koike Analog Factory ensures clean signal transmission for high-resolution audio playback.
