Etsuro Urushi Cobalt Blue Cartridge
The Etsuro Urushi Cobalt Blue is a high-end moving coil cartridge designed to extract maximum detail, dynamics and musicality from vinyl playback. Combining advanced materials with traditional Japanese craftsmanship, it delivers a refined, natural and highly resolved sound.
Key features:
• moving coil cartridge
• Microline stylus profile (80μm contact surface)
• sapphire cantilever
• samarium cobalt magnetic circuit
• rhodium-plated terminal pins
• extra-super duralumin (A7075) body
• hand-finished urushi lacquer housing
Design and performance:
The Microline stylus is shaped to closely match the original cutting head, allowing it to track the groove with exceptional accuracy. This results in improved detail retrieval, reduced distortion and more natural reproduction.
The sapphire cantilever offers high rigidity and excellent transmission of vibration, ensuring fast, precise response to musical information.
The magnetic circuit combines samarium cobalt magnets with soft iron to maintain stable, consistent performance aligned with the movement of the coil.
Materials and construction:
• sapphire cantilever for low distortion and high speed response
• A7075 extra-super duralumin body for rigidity and resonance control
• rhodium-plated terminals for reliable signal transfer
• urushi lacquer finish for added strength and unique aesthetic
The rigid structure helps minimise unwanted resonance, contributing to a clean and controlled sound.
Sound characteristics:
• highly detailed and precise
• smooth, natural tonal balance
• strong dynamics and clarity
• excellent tracking and low distortion
Versions available:
• standard version – 0.25mV output (as supplied by manufacturer)
• special edition – 0.4mV output (enhanced dynamics and performance)
Build and craftsmanship:
Each cartridge is handcrafted using traditional Japanese urushi lacquering techniques, combining durability with a distinctive cobalt blue finish. The design reflects decades of experience in cartridge engineering and analogue sound reproduction.
Note:
The Cobalt Blue is designed for high-performance analogue systems and requires a suitable phono stage or step-up transformer to match its output level.
